i saw this on influx insights, and fell in love with it immediately. i think it's so wonderful that young people are bringing fresh thinking to farming. i knew of lot of people working in farming in the northwest, and the enthusiasm they have is unmatchable.

AMAZING
ok, so i'm on twitter, but i'm not a die hard fan. i like the links people send, but could do without the usual "i'm doing homework" update. however, today i saw this article in the new york times which was so great: a woman twittering recipes. it was so clever!

i love when you something ordinary turned, if not extraordinary, then at least interesting. take this site from chili's: pjblands.com. i love the crafty, tactile feel.

instead of doing one of the many things i should be doing, i am watching movies streaming on netflix. the other day i watched some of "festival express" which is a documentary about the 1970 concert train tour across canada featuring bands like the grateful dead, the band, and janis joplin.
what struck me is that within the first few minutes the documentary told how at their first show the legendary bands were greeted by rioting hippies demanding that the show should be free. the kids got so rowdy that canadian police had to intervene, at times with violent consequences. in the end, the three city tour was a great success for everyone except the promoters who lost a lot of money.
why do i bring this up? because this story reminded me of the conversations so often held within the advertising community. people want their content, but want it free, and are no longer willing to put up with advertising in order to do it. however, if no one advertises, then there won't be as much great content. new models are constantly being thrown out: subscription based servers, collectible/premium content, etc etc.
with changing distribution models comes the need to change pricing, but i would caution anyone making the argument that this is a recent phenomenon. concerts or computers. movie downloads or magazines. the subject line changes, the problem seems to be staying the same.
